Last night, on CNN3 I heard a panel discussion about Presidential powers during time of war.
One of the questions posed about eavesdropping on citizens was decidedly the wrong question:
The man asked, 'What harm could it do?"
Amazingly, no one challenged this absurd question.
'What HARM????'
This is the litmus test we have come to, today? Measuring the harm our country is doing and deciding how much is too much?
What has happened to the notion that a governing body is supposed to at least pretend to do good? That it is supposed to at least pretend to do the will of the people?
This one is blatantly asking, 'What can we get away with before sparking a rebellion in this country?'
Before all is said and done, it may come to that if these are the questions our government officials are asking themselves these days.

The harm it could do is immeasurable. The information gather illegally could be used politically to perpetuate the rule of neocons and theocons. What could be more harmful than that?

my concern was that anyone could ask such a question.
that THAT is the measure we're using in this country today is appalling.
I think I may finally understand why no one is moving toward impeachment--if this kind of question can be asked on a national news program and no one challenges the question and the questioner.
I'm afraid two crows is right. The masses have become brainwashed, and ceaselessly assaulted with fears of attack. No one is THINKING anymore.

yes, it WAS a surreal experience hearing that question asked in all seriousness--and no one acting as if something strange had just occurred.
It never ceases to amaze me how blase the media and our Politicians have become about violations to Our Constitution and limitations to our freedom.
They all act as if its theirs to decide if we get it or not. They seem to have forgotten that we are all born with certian inalieable rights.
I hate to be conspiratorial but I think there is a reason why big corps and big media continue to toe the Bush line.
If Bush were a Democrat we'd be getting hammered right now by the media about how much the Constition has been violated, how government is busting down the doors into our privacy, how disgred the Office of the President has become...blah blah blah.
It pisses me off that this is the way our world works.

and it seems to me that one possible reason why Congress is doing nothing may be that everyone wants to be President.
they seem to have forgotten that oath--you know, the one you have to take to BECOME president? the one about preserve, protect and defend the Constitution? that one?
