Anthrax and ABC News -- The Smoking Gun?

From Salon.com:
Vital unresolved anthrax questions and ABC News -- by Glenn Greenwald

After 9/11 itself, the anthrax attacks were probably the most consequential event of the Bush presidency. One could make a persuasive case that they were actually more consequential. The 9/11 attacks were obviously traumatic for the country, but in the absence of the anthrax attacks, 9/11 could easily have been perceived as a single, isolated event. It was really the anthrax letters -- with the first one sent on September 18, just one week after 9/11 -- that severely ratcheted up the fear levels and created the climate that would dominate in this country for the next several years after. [Emphasis mine.]
The letter sent to Brokaw is shown at the right.
The letter sent to Leahy contained this message:
We have anthrax.
You die now.
Are you afraid?
Death to America.
Death to Israel.
Allah is great.
By design, those attacks put the American population into a state of intense fear of Islamic terrorism, far more than the 9/11 attacks alone could have accomplished.

In all the hoopla about the high-up muckity mucks who received such letters--please don't forget the individuals across the country [postal workers and people who weren't employed by any government] who received or handled mail and died of anthrax.
And what do we know, for certain, about how Ivins died?
Was our government complicit in their deaths?
We must discover the 'sources' ABC is shielding.

There are so many suspicious things about the whole anthrax thing, including the fact that all the politicians targeted were Democrats. It's good to ask questions and not blindly believe the propaganda.

hi libhom--
I've been amazed at how _little_ I'm hearing on tv and radio about this and how hard I've had to search through newspapers to find what little I've found.

once again, the media are turning a blind eye. what do we have to do to get them to wake up?
WHY do they just keep on giving BushCo a pass? Would they do the same if the administration were democrat? I doubt it.

until now, I've always pooh-poohed gov't conspiracies concerning everything from JFK's assassination to 9/11. now, I'm beginning to rethink it all.

Read in the paper this morning that he was a democrat! Naturally the so called Liberal Press would report that!Tom Daschle was on Meet the press and stated he couldn't understand why the investigation was so poorly handled. Silly! If it would have been a repug who was targeted it would have been in the press everyday!

hey mn-blue--
oh, of course they report that he was a dem. otherwise, the gag-order seems to be in place.

and, yes, if rethugs had been the primary targets, there would have been hue- and- cry EVERYWHERE! and finger- pointing and plenty of blame to go around.

but, dems were the targets so the whole thing was bungled and the only people to report it were people like Coulter who wished there had been more attacks and deaths. remember that?

He might have gone nuts but I am sure the Government drove the loyal quiet man there. I think some people from the dark recesses under orders from Cheney approached this guy to get some anthrax. They then sent those anthrax letters to Daschle, Leahy, and Tom Brokaw hoping it would create a panic and the atmosphere to pass The (anti)Patriot Act. It worked.

Cheney likes to spend time in the shadows. This whole thing reeks of him. Cheney's latest plan is to dress Navy Seal up like Iranians and attack U.S. targets to justify attacking Iran.
They will not relent and if stealing a third election by scumming McCain in looks in jeopardy look for any number of distasteful scenarios to occur this fall. The right will not stop this agenda no. It is too far along and the abusive power gained can not be allowed in Dem hands!
This is just one more set up in the lie we are living today and I
keep saying it but the worst is yet to come!
