Decider? Nope, Reviser.

From the Washington Post:
Good Morning, Vietnam! By Eugene Robinson
Tuesday, September 4, 2007

The most fascinating aspect of George W. Bush's no-holds-barred campaign to keep Congress from meddling in his foolish and tragic war is the way he has begun invoking the Vietnam War -- not as a cautionary lesson about hubris and futility but as a reason to push ahead (whatever "ahead" might mean) in Iraq.

Say what you want about the man, but he's full of surprises . . . .

But seeking support for the war in Iraq by reminding the nation about Vietnam? I'd feel better if I thought this was just some exquisitely subtle, deeply cynical gambit, yet I have the sinking feeling that Bush actually believes the nonsensical version of history he's peddling. I fear the man is on a mission to rewrite the past. . . .

At the beginning he denounced any comparisons, now he invokes wrongly of course comparisons on pulling out whenever possible. He fails to remind people that, that was another failed attempt at forced Democracy and loss was guaranteed on day one just like Iraq. I have said it before but there have been lessons learned from Vietnamm but none by us only by the so called terrorists.

Thanks for the Link, I love Eugene Robinson's writing.

Bush needs to pick up a book and read about the history of Iraq, Iran and the middle East as a whole.

He needs to read the history of Vietnam and the political decisions and everything else related to that era and that war.

This guy has all this education and makes one wonder if he was just passed along because of his Father.

hey, AAC--
he could use some study on the history of this country as well as Vietnam and the middle east.

he doesn't choose to remember that 2 presidents resigned under clouds at least partly as a result of Vietnam. now, THERE'S some food for thought. if he would engage in something as basic as thinking.

and, isn't it interesting how presidents become revisionists so easily [and we not only let them get away with it but follow along like the sheeple we are.]
remember Reagan and the terrorists -- um -- great- and- noble- freedom-fighters of El Salvador?
[so what's the problem with 'the disappeared' and a dead nun every now and again?]

hi, LT--
pick up a book? OUR president? muddy the waters with things like facts? whatever are you thinking? or smoking?

something every president with empire aspirations needs to remember: the historic lesson that people fight with 4 to 6 times more ferocity when they're defending their own homes and families than when they're invading another country.

Bush was not only passed along during his, no doubt, excellent education [if he had only made use of it] but has had the road made smooth for him every step of the way since then.
HOW many businesses did he run into the ground before his brother and the Supremes picked him for president?

he thought running a baseball team was the same as going to the park for an afternoon and cheering on his favorite team.
and he thought being president was the same as watching 'Dave' -- on tv -- in his bathrobe.
