Well, Crap!

Within the last couple of days I announced [somewhere, I don't remember if it was on a comment here or on someone else's blog] for all the world to see that, barring doing something stupid, Clinton had my primary vote.

Well, it seems I just barely turned around after saying that and she did something not only stupid but ABSOLUTELY, INCREDIBLY DUMBASS STUPID. She handed carte blanc to Bush to head into Iran. Hasn't this woman been paying attention during the last six years?
I take back everything I ever said about her including the statement that she's not a fool.

So, it's back to the drawing board when it comes to deciding what I'm going to do about the primary.
rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggghhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

How could she do that? What sort of an advantage to her presidential aspirations will be advanced by her handing the keys for a nursery to the known child molester? Or, would that be giving a can of petrol and a book of matches to known arsonist? I just don't get it.

hey, Pekka--
it looks to me like she wants the sheeple vote.
of course, that's only about 31% these days, right? and it looks to me like she'll lose a whole lot of people who are actually paying attention.
she's not doing the math.
dumbass.

Both of you crows--
that's exactly my point. Sell your soul but at least get the fair price for it. Dumbass indeed.

This is way off subject, but Pekka's last comment reminded me of something I heard years ago. Just after the album "Tapestry" was released, someone asked Carole King if she had sold her soul by creating all those silly songs she sold in her youth. Carole looked the reporter in the eye and said, "yes, I did. But I was able to make enough money to buy it back."

I think people realize when they've made the wrong decision by accident, and later try to make up for it. But it's the people who make the wrong decision deliberately who are actually traveling down the highway to Hell.

hey, Pekka--
yep, I think that's why so many people with scruples steer clear of politics these days.
in order to win you do have to hock your soul. and, the price to buy it back just keeps going up and up -- at least if you want to keep your job once you've got it.

Hillary is nothing more than Republican lite. I've lost all confidence in her.

I also used to defend Pelosi, not any more. I wish Feingold was our majority leader.

oops--
[dang proofreader-- again!]
sorry Robert -- I addressed my last comment to Pekka but it was actually directed to you.

hey, ME--
actually, that's why I was for her.

I think whoever gets the nod this time will be a one-termer and, if we vote in a true progressive the republicans are likely to take the White House back in 4 years saying the Dems don't have what it takes to get the job done.
in reality, NO ONE will be able to rescue this country in just 4 years.

since she's the most conservative of the 3 front runners, she could at least START us trekking back toward sanity and, mebbe people would be ready for a true progressive 4 years from now.
I don't think the majority is there, yet.
^^^
my cousin knows a liberal dem who wants McCain for the next pres.
she says the republicans should be held accountable for the mess and, since the next pres will be a one-termer with the opposition grabbing the WH after that, the dems should sit out this next term completely.

while I agree with that reasoning, I foresee any republican just digging us in deeper.

and, if the dems keep Congress [a likely scenario] and we have a dem pres -- EVERYTHING could go red again next time.
now, there's a truly terrifying prospect!

I think a LOT of people see Clinton as GOP lite-- which, I think, gives the democrats a chance at hanging onto the WH for 2 more terms after her.

that's why I was ready to vote in a purely tactical way by giving Clinton my vote, this time.

karma says to go for McCain. but, I'm too much of a wimp to try it.

I'm with ME on this one. Hillary is Bush-lite.

I agree, too, TC--
but, I'm looking beyond the next 4 years.
I just don't know what to do about it.

my brain turns to mush at the thought of a dem winning this election [almost a forgone conclusion] only to hand the WH AND the Congress to the republicans 4 years from now.
and I don't see any way out of that prospect.
