Politicians Listening to Voters? What IS the Country Coming To?

This from the Huffington Post:
Introducing This Election's Swing Vote by Sally Kohn

The American people are tired of the politics of division and isolation. For too many years, politicians on both sides of the aisle have told us we're on our own, that we have to pull ourselves up by our own bootstraps, that it's an us-against-them world and selfishness and greed are our best defense. But the politics of isolation have only led to a broken economy and a broken social safety net, division between nations and division between communities. We, the people, have had enough. It's time for a new politics in America.

On Saturday December 1, in Des Moines, Iowa, more than 3,600 people packed a crowded hall in Des Moines, Iowa, to hear everyday Americans tell their stories to five of the top presidential candidates. At the Heartland Presidential Forum, Senators John Edwards, Barack Obama, Chris Dodd and Hillary Clinton and Representative Dennis Kucinich did more listening than talking as real people finally took center stage in this election.

I hope everyone gets a chance to make a decision on whom our next Democratic nominee will be before he or she is chosen for us. The medium has already started to pick and choose. They constantly display their front runners and by pass others.

I hope the American people understand what the nominees are saying and what can actually be done and what cannot. I just hate empty promises that sound well but cannot really be done because of the legality of doing what they are saying.

I was watching Obama at a forum on Iowa yesterday and it seems that a lot of them weren't buying his rhetoric. One lady challenged him and said that he talks about what he's going to do but didn't tell them how he would achieve it. He then argued with her and said he did. I heard his rhetoric and she was right, he did not! It looked to me that she was so pissed off he lost her vote. I'm not so sure the polls are correct, I have the feeling we may see a lot of upsets in the primary's.

People there is something going on that needs our attention TODAY - please see bluebloggin.com for a detailed post on the House Judiciary committee. There are links, details galore. Kucinich's IMPEACHMENT bill is not DEAD. WE must pass this along, in email in our blogs, anyway we can.

He, Wexler and others are calling on the NETROOTS as the major papers have turned down the OP ED the committee submitted to major papers. Please forgive the off topic. BUT IMPEACHMENT is topic one for me - always. run do not walk to Bluebloggin. I also have a post with links. But theirs is well - superb. We need to take action, pass this along. Its a chance to "preserve and protect"

There are only two Politicians that I think care about we the people and our America. Paul who doesn't have a chance and Obama who I think does but I can not see Bushco allowing the all encompassing powers he has stolen and amassed into the hands of Democrats. There is a nasty surprise for 2008 I am afraid. attacking Iran is the likely scenario!

hey, LT--
yeah, too often they promise the moon when they know damned well they can't deliver. then, once in office, they say, 'oops! if I'd known then what I know now.'

yeah right.

hi M E --
I think a lot more people are paying attention this election cycle than usual. and, like you, I wouldn't be surprised by lots of upsets.

it's pretty standard, tho, that whoever the front- runners are at this point, that's NOT who wins the prize.
that's one reason why I'd like to see the current back- benchers get more air-time. there's still a LOT of time left for a 'Dean Scream' or something similar to happen and, if it does, we would do well to know the views of the next person to get catapulted up front.

hey, Pro-pro--
I went by bluebloggin but I couldn't find the impeachment reference you made.
I was pretty exhausted at the time, tho. I'll try again today.
thanx for the reference.

hi, AAP--
yep. I'm certain they're frantically looking for an excuse we'll swallow and that won't blow up in their faces.
even THAT probably won't result in impeachment or anything. but Congress might, finally, stop funding the wars if they overplay their hands.

I'm still not fully relaxing, either, till another Pres is inaugurated and installed in the Oval Office.
