The jury is back. Ralph Nader is a closet Republican.

This morning, on Meet the Press [a Republican bastion if there ever was one], Nader announced his candidacy for President. He denies, in the face of all evidence, that he spoiled the election for Al Gore. In fact, he blames Gore for the loss—not himself.

McCain is, at this moment, dancing backstage in Cleveland, Ohio, as he revels in the fact that the Democrats will, again, split their vote—giving McCain the best shot he’s had at the White House yet.

TC, you and I were among the first to get this up. It creates a real mess. In my opinion, Nader's positions on key issues are far superior to those of either Clinton or Obama, making his appeal even more illusory, as he cannot win, only spoil... again.

Nothing will help MCcain!I f you listened to Nader rattling off the numbers of those he took from Gore and Bush he sys get over it but he did screws us all. I had great respect for Nader but lost it after that. This time though he will be a non entity!

LET'S TALK said...

I don't think that Nader will make a difference in this race.

hey, TC--
exactly. I agree with the things he SAYS he'd do as pres. but, so long as he refuses to run in a viable party, he stands no chance of winning and can only hand the WH to a rethug -- again.

hi, AAP--
I think nothing MCCAIN does will help him. my fear, tho, is that an outside party like Nadir [spelling intentional] could just pull it off. :(

hi, LT--
from your mouth to the gods' ears.
may the dems PLEASE wake up this time around!

I just dont see Nader making an impact or a difference this time around.

I do hope you're right, Poli--
otoh, I can't help but remember the dems' perennial ability to snatch defeat out of the jaws of victory.
may they not live up to that reputation this time.

You know, Nadir doesn't stand a chance. I would hope he just wants to be heard but you have to wonder why he crawls out of his hole in time for elections.
Maybe there is something to him being a closet Repug. He will not matter this time though.

hey, AAP--
hope you're right.
but,
since I've moved to fla, my circle of acquaintances has grown. do you have ANY idea how many people, when asked how Bush is doing, will just shrug and say, 'Fine, I guess. . . .'
it's actually frightening to see that much
ignorance.

so, I still worry.

he seems to have stopped his activities as a consumer advocate since 2000. He just shows up every four years to campaign and enjoy the publicity while living high on GOP money.

I don't think he's got a chance to split the dem vote. It's way too late in the campaign for him to have any impact, especially against two strong personalities like Clinton and Obama. He's obviously lost all mental capabilities if he thinks he's going to draw anything besides scorn and laughs at this point.

He's always denied that he hurt Gore, BTW. But I believe he did (I'm just glad I voted for Gore.)

two crows it's stupifying how some people don't care or have a clue what Bush has done to us and the world.

hi, TC--
I do sometimes wonder who's funding his 'runs for pres'. he doesn't strike me as having the necessary deep pockets-- tho I have no doubt he's got SOME money.
still ----

hi, dguzman--
ditto in re voting for Gore. I learned my lesson back in 1980 when I helped Reagan by voting for Anderson. :(

I just hope people recognize that a vote for him is a vote for McCain.

hey, AAP-
some folks just don't want to know, I guess.

hi linda(sama) and welcome to PP&D--
thanks for adding me to your blogroll -- and I'll do the same.

Nader is a fool. I just hope he doesn't fool others this time around.
