Bush's Bigotry

I just learned of this atrocity. Had any of you heard about it?

The American Atheists wrote a letter to every member of US Congress, asking for the body to pass a resolution condemning the discrimination against Atheists by any elected or appointed official of government. The offered resolution read:

"No person in public life may be free to impugn the patriotism of any minority group because of that group's opinion in respect to religion. President George Bush is herewith censured for his public expression of August 27, 1987, at which time he stated: "I don't know that Atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God."

hi, Jim--
I was appalled when I saw this.

if you've read my other blog -- All that Is -- you'll know that I consider myself very spiritual.
but discrimination is wrong-- pure and simple.

Yes that is sickening! I have to start to get around again. I have been spreading myself a bit thin!

I was aware of it. Pere Chimpy, like all Nazis, depended on the Teutonic "God" for his "moral" authority.

Pere Chimpy is actually much more of a Fascist than the mentally ailing Reagan was, and it isn't the least bit surprising that he wound up with the kids he has.

Having studied the Bush involvement in Government for awhile now, I believe that Pere Chimpy ran things in the Saint Ronnie Administration right up until the time that Howard Baker came on as chief of staff. Baker, as you probably remember, ushered in a much different Reagan era than the one that preceded it.

hi JR--
I thought this was GW Bush when he was governor of TX.
I don't think pere was such a **ahem** christian that he would say something like this.
xxx
as to St. Reagan, I didn't follow his day-to-day regime the way I did GW's.
I was aware of Watt [who could miss him?] and the Ollie North debacle.

and the fact that the release of the hostages in Iran was delayed at the request of the candidate. I guess they thought they'd get better treatment from Reagan -- and they did, didn't they?
